The Gold Hill Gazette

Discovery II began its life in 1953 as the Yutana, a freight boat hauling goods on the Yukon and Tanana rivers (hence its name, a combination of the names of the two rivers). Captain Jim Binkley purchased the Yutana in 1967 after its effective freighting life was over, and until 1970 it was drydocked on the Chena River near Fairbanks, Alaska.

The Mead Tasting at the Princess Hotel hosted by Ring of Fire Meadery on April 18th was a great success! Thanks to all of you who joined in on this celebration of Mead from Alaska.

Gold Hill Imported Beer and Fine Wine is hosting two tastings this summer aboard the Discovery II. There will be music, wine or beer, food, great views and even better weather (*I am certain!)
